About Adult Day Care

What is adult day care, and how does it work?

Adult day care provides daytime supervision, assistance, and structured activities for adults who continue to live at home.

At Accent Adult Day Center, participants receive individualized support while enjoying opportunities for social interaction, creativity, learning, and new experiences. They spend the day at our center and return home afterward, giving family caregivers time for work, appointments, and other responsibilities.

Adult day care may be a good option for someone who needs daytime assistance or supervision, spends too much time alone, or would benefit from more social interaction and engaging activities.

Many of our participants have significant health challenges, mobility limitations, or memory difficulties. Others are more independent but enjoy the structure and social opportunities our program provides.

We welcome families to visit and discuss whether Accent is an appropriate fit for their loved one.

Adult day care provides dependable daytime support, giving family caregivers time to work, attend appointments, manage personal responsibilities, or rest.

This is often called caregiver respite. While caregivers have time for their own needs, participants enjoy activities, companionship, and opportunities to stay engaged in community life.

Activities, Enrichment & Daily Support

What makes Accent Adult Day Center different?

At Accent, we believe that needing daily assistance should not limit a person’s opportunities to enjoy life, discover new interests, and stay connected with the world.

Our program brings art, music, culture, and learning into everyday life. Visiting artists, musicians, performers, and other professionals share their talents with participants, while organized outings offer opportunities to explore museums, farms, parks, and other community destinations.

Our bright, welcoming rooms feature original artwork by local artists, creating an environment that encourages curiosity, conversation, and creative expression.

We combine these enriching experiences with the practical care and supervision participants need.

Our activities include music, art, creative projects, gentle exercise, games, social gatherings, and educational programs.

We also welcome guest artists, musicians, performers, and specialists who introduce participants to new ideas, skills, and experiences.

Activities vary throughout the program and are adapted to participants’ interests and abilities.

No. We encourage participation but respect each person’s interests, preferences, and energy levels.

Some participants enjoy group activities, while others prefer quieter activities or occasional breaks. Our staff help participants find activities that suit them without making participation feel obligatory.

Yes. Community outings are an important part of our program. We organize visits to museums, farms, parks, and other local destinations, offering participants new experiences and opportunities to stay connected with the wider community.

Transportation for these outings is provided through our partnership with another nonprofit organization.

Participants who use wheelchairs or walkers may also join outings when accessibility and their individual support needs can be accommodated.

Yes. We welcome people living with dementia, memory loss, and other cognitive challenges when their individual needs can be appropriately supported.

Our activities encourage social interaction, creativity, cognitive engagement, and the use of existing abilities. We recognize that people experiencing memory difficulties continue to have personal interests, preferences, and the capacity to enjoy meaningful experiences.

Our program supports quality of life and well-being but is not a medical treatment for dementia.

Yes. Some of our participants use wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids.

They can take part in art, music, educational programs, social events, and community outings when appropriate. We consider each person’s mobility, accessibility requirements, and assistance needs when planning participation.

Our staff assist participants with everyday needs, including mobility, toileting, meals, and other routine personal activities.

Before enrollment, we discuss each person’s health conditions, abilities, and support needs to determine whether our center can provide appropriate care and supervision.

Some participants may need additional assistance or an individualized care arrangement. Not every level of care can be accommodated in an adult day setting.

Yes. Meals and snacks are included in our standard program.

Our staff can provide routine assistance during meals when needed. Families should inform us about food allergies, dietary restrictions, or special assistance requirements before enrollment so we can discuss appropriate arrangements.

We do not have a nurse on staff, so medications are managed by participants’ families.

If a participant needs medication during their time at Accent Adult Day Center, the family prepares it in advance. We store the medication in a locked cabinet and make it available to the participant at the scheduled time.

Please discuss medication needs with our staff before enrollment so we can confirm that the necessary assistance can be provided.

Costs & Payment Options

How much does adult day care cost at Accent?

Our standard private-pay rates depend on the number of scheduled days per week and whether the participant attends a short or full day.

Short-day rates range from $140 to $160 per day, and full-day rates range from $165 to $185 per day. Families who schedule more days per week receive lower daily rates.

Private-pay enrollment is based on a regular weekly schedule, with a fixed monthly payment made in advance. Participants requiring extensive assistance or additional supervision may need individualized pricing.

Standard rates include daytime supervision, social and recreational activities, meals and snacks, and routine assistance with daily needs within the center’s capabilities.

Participants also have access to our organized enrichment programs and social activities.

Additional hands-on assistance or extensive supervision may require an individualized assessment and rate, which we discuss with families before enrollment.

Original Medicare generally does not cover nonmedical adult day care as a standalone service.

Some Medicare Advantage plans and long-term care insurance policies may offer benefits for adult day services, depending on the plan.

We recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm coverage, eligibility, and whether Accent is an approved provider.

Yes. Accent welcomes participants whose adult day services have been authorized through the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS).

Eligibility, covered services, and authorized attendance are determined through the applicable ODHS process.

If your family member receives ODHS services, contact their case manager to discuss adult day services and possible authorization for Accent.

Private-pay enrollment is also available without ODHS authorization.

Visiting & Enrollment

Can we visit Accent or try the program before enrolling?

Yes. Families are welcome to schedule a visit, meet our staff, and see the center firsthand.

We also offer a complimentary trial day by prior arrangement. Prospective participants can experience our activities, meals, and social environment before making an enrollment decision.

Trial days are subject to availability and confirmation that we can appropriately accommodate the participant’s needs. There is no obligation to enroll afterward.

It is natural to feel uncertain about trying something unfamiliar, especially after spending most days at home.

We encourage families to introduce Accent as an opportunity to meet people, enjoy art and music, explore new interests, and experience a different environment — rather than focusing only on the need for care.

A visit or complimentary trial day can help your loved one become familiar with the center and decide whether the program feels right.

Contact us to discuss your family member’s needs, interests, and preferred attendance schedule.

We can arrange a visit, review care requirements and payment options, and explain the enrollment process.
